Tony Robb discovered a passion for wine while working in Information
Technology. After completing a science degree at Canterbury University
and postgraduate studies in Wine Science at Lincoln University, he joined
Corbans in 1997 as a laboratory technician. A successful step out
of the laboratory into a research/ winemaker position helped accelerate
Tony’s career as a winemaker and in 2000 he became assistant winemaker
in Hawke’s Bay. Having refined his winemaking skills at the Corbans
Winery in Napier, and after additional vintage experience in the Napa
Valley and Gisborne, Tony is now the Senior Winemaker at Corbans.
“I am passionate about making wine in Hawke’s Bay, because the diversity of the region allows me to make an exciting range of styles, while the quality of the fruit allows me to craft elegant wines that are texturally orientated,” says Tony.
